Day 47: Climbing to get views

June 5, Day 47: 721.8-735.3

Miles Hiked: 13.5

Gratitude of the Day: I’m thankful for epic mountain view’s and enjoying the moments.

Today was the start of another wonderful day in the Sierra. I left camp around 6:45 and climbed 1300 feet to just above 10,000 with peekaboo glimpses of the Sierra mountains ahead. It was a day of gorgeous views that were meant to be enjoyed and we definitely did that. All morning was nothing but beautiful mountain meadows and walking thru tall bristlecone pines.

By lunch we were all lazing under the shade of huge pine trees next to a cool pool of water. The next 4 miles was a big climb to 10,700 feet where we’d camp for the night but we’d need to bring water for dinner and for the morning. This meant carrying 3-4 liters each, back to carrying lots of water. But the views at camp are completely worth it was we look down upon Owens Valley to the east. The sunset was unreal and I’m cowboy camped under a beautiful pine tonight.
