September 6, Day 140: 2431.0-2451.2
Miles Hiked: 20.2
Gratitude of the Day: I’m thankful for Erik “Cool Cat” Yoder. He says the funniest things that just crack the group up.
What a beautiful day. I woke when the sun started hitting my tent and got up for a bio-break. A great surprise happened when I walked up trail to do the morning duty and an open air pit toilet was right there. It’s the small things in life to not have to dig a cat hole in the morning. I climbed out of camp and the trail passed a triple waterfall and then came to an amazing meadow right before another good climb. I hopped across some rocks to get past a clear and beautiful stream and started the second climb of the day which gave me spectacular views.
At lunch I came to a cascading stream and found the perfect flat rock to lay out and enjoy for two hours. I made coffee and just relaxed, it was wonderful.
After lunch it was just 9 miles to camp at Glacier Lake, I assumed that it was called that because it either at one time had a glacier in it or it was formed by one, but to just surprise it was because as the trail approached it from above you got an amazing view of Glacier Peak to the north, our last volcanic mountain I’ll walk by before getting to Canada. I made myself down the ridge to the lake, set up camp and enjoyed dinner circle with the group.
