August 7th, Day 110: 1736.0-1773.6
Miles Hiked: 35.4
Gratitude of the Day: I’m thankful for my mom today it’s her birthday. I hope she had a wonderful day and she has a spectacular upcoming year.
Last night the stars were so beautiful and I could see the Milky Way. It was a little chilly but perfect sleeping weather. My alarm went off at 4am and I packed up in the dark. At 4:30 I walked out of camp and headed up trail.

After filtering water at 5:45 I enjoyed the cool morning, the sunrise and the fairly easy terrain of the trail. By 10 am I came to mile 15 and trail magic where I caught up with the Salty Butt Bandits who had skipped ahead. I had a morning beer and a cookie and sat for about 30 minutes. Then it was back to hiking as I have a goal to get to Crater Lake by Monday afternoon to see my friends. That means I need to do back to back 35 mile days to give my myself enough time on Monday with them. So I pushed through the day until lunch time where I broke out my new hammock, kicked my shoes off, ate a little lunch and then took a nap for an hour. Then it was another 6 miles to water where I took another break of about 30 minutes.

We’d heard from some SOBO (South Bound) hikers that there was more trail magic 10 miles down trail, so we all headed that way. Unfortunately I wasn’t the fastest (let’s be honest I usually am not) and it took me until 8pm to get there. By that time they were cleaning up and I got a little water and a couple small candy bars, still grateful for them and the ability to take a seat for a little while. Camp was just another 0.2 miles up trail. At least it wasn’t dark when I set up camp. Hopefully it’ll be a good nights sleep and my legs will feel refreshed in the morning to do another 35 miles tomorrow.
