August 11, Day 114: PCT Alt, 1907.9-1917.6
Miles Hiked: 19.7
Gratitude of the Day: I’m thankful for a shower.
After a long day yesterday, I was slow going this morning getting the motivation to actually get out of my tent. But my time schedule to get to Bend and meet my friends means I needed to get up and go. So I hobbled out of camp at 6:15 and headed the 10 miles into Shelter Cove. Luckily the trail was pretty level and I made it there by 9:45. Here I caught up with two hikers I’d not seen since the start of the Sierra’s, Hiccups and Kitty Titty. So I quickly nabbed a shower, did my laundry and ate a breakfast burrito and then we all headed back to trail to do some miles this afternoon. We hiked about 3 miles in and stopped by a lake, I set my hammock up and we took about an hour break. Then we decided to hike another 7 miles to Bobby Lake for camp. We were there and set up by 6:30, which is early for me so it was nice to just have a chill day. Looking at the map it looks like there’s going to be plenty of opportunities to take breaks by beautiful lakes so I’m looking forward to the next section of trail.
