Day 120: Timberline Lodge

August 17, Day 120: 2083.7-2096.6

Miles Hiked:

Gratitude of the Day: I’m thankful for having my extra clothing layers and puffy jacket back.

Last night it started raining, the sound of it pitter pattering on my tent was soothing and I slept well for the most part. I heard Hiccups and Kitty Titty get up at 4 to pack up, they have a reservation at Timberline Lodge Buffet at 10:30, I rolled over and went back to sleep staying cozy in my sleeping bag. At 7am I woke up and started to get things packed away. I actually made hot coffee this morning and finally walked out of camp at 7:30 only 14 miles from Timberline Lodge.  I was so happy to get my puffy jacket and thermal clothing back in Bend as it was a chilly morning heading out. The clouds hung over the ridges and it looked like a fall PNW day not late August.

Soon it started to drizzle a little rain, nothing heavy but the northwest drizzle will soak you through and that’s exactly what it did. By the time I was 2 miles out from the lodge I was soaked through and cold, the wind was cutting through and all I wanted to do was make it there to get under cover. This is the weather I want to avoid in northern Washington in late September because it’s just miserable to hike through. I finally made it to the lodge under cover and stripped off my wet clothes and put on warmer clothing. Ali and Collin were on their way so I headed in and got a beer. Originally the plan was to just camp outside the lodge but the drizzle wasn’t letting up so we decided to get a room and enjoy the comforts of staying indoors. We went to the hot tub and sat in it until we were all pruny. The evening consisted of playing the golf card game, Jukebox, Hiccups, Collin, Bedtime Stories, Ali, Kitty Titty and myself stayed up late drinking and having a great time.
