Day 66: Tuolumne Meadows

June 24, Day 66: 925.3-945.1

Miles Hiked: 19.8

Gratitude of the Day: I’m thankful for new friends who push me to think differently.

Started today at Thousand Island Lake, woke up at 5:20 and decided that today I needed to get going. By 6am I was out of camp and hiking towards Donohue Pass. At 7am as I was crossing a fun stream I came across Clyde and Cool Cat. This worked out perfectly as I need to deal with the morning “chores”.  Then it was a day of pushing miles, once over Donohue pass everything for the rest of the day was downhill or flat.

Once I reached the valley floor it was 10 miles of beautiful terrain along the Lyell Fork River. At lunch I stopped by myself and aired my sleeping bag and tent out in the sun while I ate a peanut butter and jelly wrap. An hour later I found Zippy at a beautiful waterfall and joined her, deciding to soak my legs and relax. Then Clyde and Cool Cat caught up to us and as we walked into Toulumne meadows it tried to rain on us but the trees provided cover.

We reached the Toulumne Meadows general store at 3:15, miles 20 miles for me, and ordered a beer and burger. I sat with my hiker friends until 8pm then went to camp and sat around a campfire enjoying the company of wonderful people.
