Day 79: Free 40s

July 7, Day 79: 1144.4-1153.4

Miles Hiked: 9

Gratitude of the Day:  I’m thankful for life on trail. It’s a pretty simplistic life, lived from resupply town to the next.

Today is town day, making it to Donner Ski Ranch, PCT hikers get a free 40 oz beer for showing their permit. The morning started off with me filtering water for the 9 miles of waterless hiking. While I was filtering water I saw a golden Pine Marten. He was so cute but before I could get a picture he was gone.

Then it was a quick hike, with a side hike to Tinkers Knob and then into the ski resort and beer.

I made it to Truckee and stayed at the local hostel. When I went to the post office to get the frame parts for my backpack, the box was slightly open and the two rods I needed weren’t there… boo. The rest of the day was eating good food and hanging out with fellow hikers. I called Zpacks and they are sending new replacement rods now to Belden, so it’ll be another week of me milking my pack, I’m sure it’ll be fine.
