Day 77: Beer Magic

July 5th, Day 77: 1103.3-1125.7

Miles Hiked: 22.4

Gratitude of the Day:  I’m thankful that even though I’m ahead of my trail family I’m still meeting hikers to spend the day with and camp with at night.

Today was a very casual day of walking through some fairly flat terrain in the trees. Huck, Catch and I left Gilmore lake around 6:15am and an hour or so in we gained a fourth for the group, Rugrat hiked with us the rest of the day. Because the trail was so flat we met up at Richardson Lake at noon for lunch, 15 miles in for the day. We lounged at the lake for hours and even got some beer from some locals that were camping at the lake. Then we pushed on to do another 7-8 miles to a camp spot that overlooks Lake Tahoe. As we were almost to camp we came across “Squishy” at Barker Pass Trailhead, she hiked the PCT in 2018 and was doing trail magic. More beer and potato chips and puppy loves for Jade her dog. Then it was a mile to camp with a stellar view of the lake. For me it’s an early to bed at 8:30. Just 27 miles out from Truckee so back in town soon to resupply and pick up my repair stuff for my Zpacks backpack.
