July 4th, Day 76: 1090.8-1103.3

Gratitude of the Day: I’m thankful for warm lakes to swim in.
A slow start to get out of South Lake Tahoe on the 4th of July. After a quick early lunch at Subway, Catch, Huck and I took an Uber back to trail. Today was a short day, we took off from the highway and Huck was in the lead. He said he saw a bear on trail that was scared off when he came up trail. 2 miles later we all walked into Echo Lake Resort and we were able to get a boat hitch hike from a nice guy named Ed. What fun, taking a hitch in a boat to the other side of the lake. When we got to the dock on the other side Shakedown and her boyfriend Andy were there getting water. So we hiked with them to the most beautiful lake yet called Aloha Lake.
We all swam and sunbathed on a granite island rock for several hours, then hiked 5 more miles to Gilmore Lake to camp.
